After Composite Fillings

  • Numbness: Avoid eating or drinking hot beverages until the numbness wears off.
  • Sensitivity: It's normal to experience some sensitivity. Take pain medication as needed.
  • Bite: You can chew with your composite fillings as soon as the anesthetic wears off.
  • Concerns: If you have any concerns about your bite, pain, or other issues, please call our office.

After Crown and Bridge Appointment

  • Temporary Crowns: If a temporary crown comes off, please call our office at (512) 255-4229 and bring the crown with you.
  • Avoid Sticky Foods: To keep temporaries in place, avoid sticky foods and hard foods.
  • Sensitivity: It's normal to experience some temperature and pressure sensitivity after each appointment.
  • Concerns: If you have any concerns about your bite, pain, or other issues, please call our office.

After Tooth Extraction

  • Blood Clot: Bite on a gauze pad for 30-45 minutes after the appointment to help a blood clot form.
  • Avoid Dislodging the Clot: Do not rinse vigorously, suck on straws, smoke, drink alcohol, or brush teeth near the extraction site for 72 hours.
  • Limit Activity: Limit vigorous exercise for 24 hours.
  • Pain and Swelling: Apply ice packs and take pain medication as prescribed.
  • Oral Hygiene: Resume your normal dental routine after 24 hours.

After Cosmetic Reconstruction

  • Bite Adjustment: It may take a few days for your brain to adjust to the feel of your new bite. If you continue to detect any high spots or problems, please call our office at (512) 255-4229 to schedule an adjustment appointment.
  • Sensitivity: It's normal to experience some hot and cold sensitivity. This will subside over time.
  • Sore Gums: Warm salt water rinses (a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water) three times a day can help reduce pain and swelling.
  • Speech: Don't be concerned if your speech is affected initially. You'll quickly adapt.
  • Increased Salivation: This is normal and should subside in about a week.
  • Oral Hygiene: Daily brushing and flossing are crucial for the long-term success of your new teeth.
  • Diet: Avoid hard foods and substances that can crack or chip your teeth. Minimize or avoid staining foods like coffee, red wine, tea, and berries.
  • Mouthguards: If you engage in sports or grind your teeth, wear the custom mouthguard we've provided.
